Frame rust is the primary concern on any FJ40 purchase. Inspect the main rails behind the front wheels, the rear crossmember, and the rocker areas carefully. Rust that penetrates the frame rails is expensive to repair and may make restoration cost-prohibitive. A clean frame commands a real premium. Body panels can be patched or replaced.
